Short description

The automatic transmission 09D acts in film together with the engine, forward main transfer and a transfer case.

At the Touareg car with any options of the engine it is recommended to dismantle before removal of the power unit the bottom connecting bolts« engines/transmissions. Whenever possible in advance establish hydrotransformer fastening. The given advice operates both at removal, and at transmission connection to the engine.

There are two options of a detachment of the engine from a transmission on an assembly table of VAS 6131.

First option

Automatic transmission 09D and a transfer case of transfers 1 remain fastened to each other. These units it is possible disconnect together from the engine for, for example, removal or hydrotransformer installation.

Thus the forward driveshaft 2 turn off only in front from a transfer case. Thus it is possible to separate the engine on one party, and boxes on other party of an assembly table of VAS 6131 from each other.

Second option

At first from a table remove a transfer case, then an automatic transmission. Thus it is possible to carry out installation works on an automatic transmission. For this purpose at first it is necessary to turn off the forward driveshaft on two parties, a transfer case 1 disconnect and remove from a table. Only then disconnect an automatic transmission from the engine and, in case of need, also remove from a table.

This second option is described further.

Removal

At any options of the engine it is recommended to remove the bottom connecting bolts of an engine/transmission before dismantle of the power unit.

At possibility establish hydrotransformer fastening as soon as possible.

Engine removal with a transmission (cars with petrol V6 and V8) engines

Remove a starter (fig. 3.50) .

Turn off the hydrotransformer from a leading disk.

Cars with the turbodiesel V10 TDI engine

At these cars fastening of the hydrotransformer and the bottom connecting bolts of an engine/transmission is necessary for mounting at the established power unit.

NOTE To remove a starter cable, it will be impossible the connecting bolt (fig. 3.51) is not unscrewed yet .

Cars with the turbodiesel V6 TDI engine

To dismantle a starter, it will be impossible hydrotransformer bolts are not established yet.

Watch that minutes of 2 plates of VAS of 6131/1 assembly tables under the oil pallet (fig. 3.52) were a support for an automatic transmission .

Remove the driveshaft between a transfer case and forward main transfer from a transfer case.

For deduction of the driveshaft it is possible use T10172 support.

Also 2 bolts are suitable for a support 3435 Max. М10 (fig. 3.53) or T10172 countersupport.

Lift a transfer case by means of the crane (fig. 3.54) .

Disconnect a transfer case and to put aside.

Cars with the turbodiesel V6 TDI engine

Remove the catalyst and the protivosazhevy filter 1 from a turbonagnetatel.

Always replace nuts on a turbonagnetatel.

Remove tubes of system of cooling 2 from a case of the hydrotransformer 2 bolts.

Remove the sensor of frequency of rotation 3 (fig. 3.55) .

Turn off ATF tubes.

If this operation was not executed yet – remove a heatinsulating guard at the left transmissions.

Further, at a V6 TDI engine detachment from a transmission watch that the engine did not overturn down.

Therefore raise the engine by means of the VAS 6100 crane and the adaptation for suspension 3033. Establish the crane sideways on a table.

If there is no second crane, disconnect the engine and a transmission, then опереть the engine by means of suitable means.

Cars with the W12 engine

Remove all catalysts from a final collector.

Turn off ATF tubes.

If at the moment of the beginning of dismantle of the power unit this operation was not executed, turn off the hydrotransformer from a conducted disk.

Continuation for all cars

Before an engine detachment from a transmission take measures in order that the engine did not turn over.

This operation will be repeatedly represented on a V6 TDI engine example.

If there is no second crane, disconnect the engine and a transmission, then опереть the engine by means of suitable means.

Raise a transmission by means of the crane.

Turn off ATF tubes.

Remove all connecting bolts of an engine/transmission.

Carefully wring out a transmission from the engine.

Watch that the hydrotransformer with a transmission was pressed by a leading disk.

Installation

Installation is carried out in return sequence.

Check adjustment of draft of the selector, if necessary, adjust.

After installation check ATF level, if necessary, add oil and make adjustment of corners of installation of wheels.
