NOTE At this type of engines compression check on the motionless car is interfaced to labor-consuming operations. Therefore it is expedient to inspect idling control before these works. Measurement of a compression is expedient only if there is a suspicion on failure of cylinders / cylinders.

NOTE Necessary special adaptations, control and measuring devices, and also supportive applications: – Dinamometrichesky key (5–50 N · м) V.A.G 1331; – V.A.G 1381/12 adapter; – Kompressometr V.A.G 1763; – A protective plate of T10247 (Cars with alphabetic references of the engine AYH, BKW); – A connecting hose of VAS 6278 (Cars with alphabetic references of the engine AYH, BKW).

Check conditions

Temperature of engine oil of minute of 30 °C.

Ignition is switched off.

Procedure for test

Merge cooling liquid.

On cars with alphabetic references of the engine AYH, BKW dismantle the fuel filter.

Close the connecting union of fuel hoses by means of a protective plate of T10247 (fig. 2.15) .

On cars with BLE and BWF engines remove a bypass cover with a radiator of system of a retsirkulyatsiya.

Continuation of assembly operations for all cars

Remove the top part of a cover of the case of the oil filter.

Remove glow plugs.

Remove the right cover of a water taking away box D (fig. 2.17) .

Disconnect small shtekerny connection from control units the engine.

NOTE By means of shutdown of small shtekerny connection the condition at which, despite a working starter, the engine it will not be got is reached. At engine start in memory of malfunctions there will be mistakes. After work on measurement of a compression it is necessary to consider and remove mistakes.

After measurement of a compression interrogate memory of malfunctions.

Twist the V.A.G 1381/12 adapter in a nest of a glow plug of the checked cylinder.

Establish the top part of a cover of the case of the oil filter.

Measure a compression by means of the device for measurement of a compression of V.A.G 1763 (fig. 2.18) .

Twist a starter while indications компрессометра will cease to increase.

Compression indications

The new: 25±0,31 bar of superfluous pressure.

Limiting admission: 19th bar of superfluous pressure.

Admissible difference between separate cylinders: 5th bar.

Establish glow plugs. Fill in cooling liquid. After check of all cylinders and a full ukomplektatsiya of the engine, interrogate memory of malfunctions and remove mistakes.
