Full drive

The full drive does not demand special service.

NOTE At a full drive all four wheels are leaders.

Transfer of a torque is constantly carried out on all four wheels. The size of a torque and its distribution on axes occurs automatically depending on specific road conditions.

Winter tires

Thanks to a full drive the car equipped with serial tires, shows rather high dynamic qualities on winter roads. And still we urgently recommend always in the winter on all four wheels to establish winter or all-weather tires as thus traffic safety essentially increases, brake qualities of the car considerably improve.

Antisliding chains

In the presence of legislative instructions about obligatory application of chains of antisliding it is necessary to establish them and on the all-wheel drive car; chains put on forward wheels.

Replacement of tires

On cars with a full drive there can not be a tire with various degree of wear. All four wheels should have identical ways of a running in, i.e. the pieces of a way passed by the tire for one turn.

The lowered step of transmission of "LOW"

The lowered step of transmission can be used also at the blocked differentials (fig. 1.123) .

NOTE The lowered step of transmission with large transfer number serves for ensuring the maximum traction effort on wheels at movement on off road terrain.

As ESP, ASR, ABS and EDS systems at the included lowered step of transmission change the action program, at movement on usual roads it is impossible to use this step.

Inclusion of the lowered step of transmission of "LOW" (at an automatic transmission)

Reduce speed below 15 km/h.

Turn the button on «LOW».

Move the selector in a position N.

Wait about one second.

Include one of movement positions (R, D or S).

Inclusion of the lowered step of transmission of "LOW" (at a mechanical transmission)

Stop the car.

Turn the button on «LOW».

Put the transmission lever in neutral situation.

Wait about one second.

Include transfer.

Switching off of the lowered step of transmission at movement

Reduce speed below 40 km/h.

Turn the button on «HIGH».

Move the selector in a position N.

Wait about one second.

Include one of advance positions (D or S).

Switching off of the lowered step of transmission at the motionless car

Turn the button on «HIGH».

Hold the car on a place by means of a brake pedal.

Move the selector in a position N.

Wait about one second.

Include one of movement positions (R, D or S).

The maximum speed from which it is possible to move at the included lowered step of "LOW", is defined by engine model. Restriction of the maximum speed lies in limits approximately from 70 to 100 km/h.

Best of all the lowered step in the following situations proves:

– when the car with the trailer moves on off road terrain;

– when the car makes the way in especially severe conditions of off road terrain;

– when overcoming especially steep slopes.

It is not necessary to include the lowered step of transmission on snow-covered roads.

Inclusion of the lowered step of transmission is carried out by button turn in the situation "LOW" – the LOW logo starts to blink. Inclusion can be late a little. If the step of "LOW" is included automatically, the LOW logo burns, without blinking. Besides, on the display‘ an instrument guard there is the corresponding instruction.

As at the included step of "LOW" the maximum torque on wheels is reached, on cars with a mechanical transmission it is possible to get under way from a place on the 2nd or 3rd transfer.

Monitoring system of draft (ASR)

At the included lowered step the special program of action of the monitoring system of the draft intended for off road terrain, improving conditions of coupling of wheels with soil automatically is activated. Thus often there is no need for the majority of road situations manually to disconnect protivozanosny system.

At speed of movement below 70 km/h operation of the monitoring system of draft is late a little. Thus conditions of coupling with soil at the included lowered step improve.

Protivozanosny system ESP

With engine start-up the protivozanosny system automatically joins.

NOTE By means of protivozanosny system course stability and controllability of the car in boundary modes of movement essentially raises.

At the included protivozanosny system the mountain brake on descent is activated.

The Protivozanosny system should be constantly included. Only in certain situations when pro-slipping of wheels is desirable, it is possible to disconnect in pressing of a key (ESP) ESP (fig. 1.124) .

For example:

– at movement with antisliding chains;

– at movement on deep snow or friable soil;

– when rocking the got stuck car.

Then key pressing the protivozanosny system should be included again.

At shutdown of protivozanosny system the monitoring system of draft of ASR and system of regulation of draft of the engine at first a proskalzyvaniye of driving wheels of MSR, and also a mountain brake on descent are at the same time disconnected. It means that a number of systems are not active or active according to the changed program (protivobuksovochny system EDS) so much time, the protivozanosny system how many is disconnected.

When it is shone or the key blinks

The key is shone at ignition inclusion about two seconds at working capacity check.

The key blinks during movement when the protivozanosny system operates.

The key is shone at malfunction of protivozanosny system.

Mountain brake for descent

Before the descent beginning from the abrupt mountain lower speed to less, than 20 km/h.

NOTE Automatically activated mountain brake for descent helps the driver on biases more than 20 %.

Allow the car to roll down down by the included transfer.

Do not press a gas pedal.

Thus speed of movement of the car thanks to a mountain brake only then remains to a constant, when a paving not slippery, and sufficient coupling of wheels with the road.

If at descent from the abrupt mountain the car at a podtormazhivaniye the engine (and also a brake pedal) starts to get out of hand, the corresponding wheels подтормаживаются a mountain brake so that speed of the car becomes a constant, and the behavior of the car is stabilized.

For this purpose it is necessary, that there was a sufficient coupling of wheels with soil or a paving. So, the mountain brake for descent does not execute the functions when the car moves on the descent which has iced over or covered with liquid dirt.

The mountain brake for descent operates when is included and smoothly the protivozanosny system, speed movement functions does not exceed 20 km/h, transfer is included and do not press a gas pedal.

The mountain brake does not operate, when press a gas pedal, the transmission in neutral situation, is pressed a coupling pedal, the protivozanosny system or speed of movement is disconnected exceeds 20 km/h.

Mountain brake for lifting

The mountain brake is automatically activated, when the following conditions are at the same time met:

– the car was stopped and keeps on lifting by the working or parking brake;

– the engine works;

– the 1st transfer or backing transfer (for movement up) is included;

– the coupling pedal is squeezed completely out.

NOTE The mountain brake for lifting facilitates to the driver a troganiye from a place on lifting.

The car is braked and keeps on lifting – at completely squeezed out pedal of coupling – by means of a mountain brake even at the released pedal of a brake and not tightened parking brake. At inclusion of coupling of a brake it is dosed automatically out are released, the easy and safe troganiye from a place on lifting thereby is reached.

Before a start of motion on a steep slope in cross-country conditions track that both differentials were blocked.
