To the driver of the towing car

Begin movement smoothly that the cable gradually stretched. Then carefully add gas.

At a troganiye from a place release a pedal coupling especially smoothly, and at an automatic transmission give gas gradually.

Remember that amplifiers of a wheel and brakes do not work at the towed car. Brake beforehand and smoothly.

To the driver of the towed car

Watch that the cable was constantly tense.

Take out a towing eye and a wheel key (fig. 1.152) .

Cast away a forward cover down and leave it to hang.

Hook a screw-driver a back cover (fig. 1.153) and leave it to hang.

Screw an eye counter-clockwise against the stop in the corresponding carving opening.

Tighten an eye by means of a wheel key.

Towing cable or rigid tow

It is better to use a rigid tow. Only when there is no rigid tow, apply a towing cable.

The towing cable should be rather elastic not to damage both cars. Use a cable from artificial fiber or other elastic material.

Fix a towing cable or a rigid tow only to the eyes provided for this purpose.

Movement

Towage demands a certain experience, especially when using a towing cable. Both drivers should be familiar with features of driving at towage. The inexperienced driver should not operate any of cars.

At movement it is necessary to watch that there were no breakthroughs and a big proslableniye of a cable constantly. At car towage on edge of the improved dirt road always there is a danger that the roadside will be overloaded and will collapse.

Ignition of the towed car should be included, that the steering was not blocked and it was possible to use turn indexes, a sound signal, screen wipers and stekloomyvatel.

As the amplifier of brakes at the idle engine does not function, the driver should press a pedal of a brake more strongly, than usually.

As the amplifier of a wheel also does not work, at turn it is necessary to put more effort to a steering wheel.

Towage of cars with an automatic transmission

According to traffic regulations include external lighting.

NOTE At towage observe traffic regulations.

The car with an automatic transmission cannot be got towage.

Take into consideration features of towage of the all-wheel drive car.

If in a transmission of the faulty car there is no oil, such car can be towed only with the hung-out driving wheels.

At towage distance more than 50 km it is necessary to tow the car with the hung-out driving wheels.

In the absence of a current in an onboard network the steering remains blocked. Such car should be towed with the hung-out forward wheels.

At a faulty pneumosuspension bracket the road gleam is smallest. Towage with one hung-out axis is impossible.

Towage of the all-wheel drive car

Before towing the all-wheel drive car, once again read the general instructions. At towage of the all-wheel drive car take into consideration the following:

– speed of a vehicle should not be higher than 50 km/h. The distance of towage should not exceed 50 km;

– the car cannot be towed with the hung-out lobbies or back wheels.

NOTE If normal towage is impossible or if the towage distance has to be transported more than 50 km, the car on the wrecker.

Towage for engine start-up

NOTE It is preferable to use the accumulator of other car to engine start.
